Wat Phnom–this can be found in Phnom Penh, a Buddhist church. Considered to be the tallest among religious buildings for its 27meter height, this was made in 1372. The legend says it was a shelter fir Buddha’s statues and was determined by a woman, Penh. Hence, the city name Phnom Penh means ‘hill of Penh’. The entrance gates of Wat Phnom are at the grand eastern staircase restrained by lions and snakes. To enter Wat Phnom, tourist must purchase a ticket at the ticket office before walking up the hill to the temple. The ticket office is located at the bottom of the eastern staircase. Removing of shoes is needed as you enter the temple, as a sign of respect.
Another on the top list is the Angkor Wat. They call it the temple city, it was built for the Hindus and it was eventually converted into a Buddthist temple. Angkor Wat is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia.
Then, let’s go to The Royal Palace–one of the grandest places to visit in Cambodia. Though, some areas are closed to the public, there are still many areas you can visit such as Throne Hall and Silvering Pagoda. The palace is known to be the home of Majesty Preah Bat Smdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and Her Majesty Preah Reach Akka-Mohesey Norodom Monineath. The Palace was built in 1866 by His Majesty Preah Bat Norodom, great grandfather to the current King of Cambodia. One of the best way to relieve stress is to travel Cambodia and you get to know more about the history of their buildings. It is one of the best places to restore and meditate your peace of mind.
